Athlectics Day Reflection

Description: Yesterday (Wednesday 23rd Nov) we had Athletics day. The activities were Sprints, 800m run, Hurdles, Vortex, Shot put, High jump, Long jump, Discus and Relays. We got given free sausages and they were tasty. My placings were 1st in the 800m run and 3rd in vortex. I really surprised myself getting a placing in vortex because I have never ever been really good at it. My favourite activities would have had to be high jump even though I didn't come in the top three but I came 4th and also I really enjoyed the 800m run. I was really proud of myself in all the activities because I came 3rd and 1st and in everything else I came fourth. The most challenging part about Athletics day would have to probably be the long jump because I could not get the timing right so I did a jump step but over all I enjoyed every activity. Next time I think I could focus on my long jump and doing some more practise so I can do a bit better in the skills that aren't my best.

  • Athletics Reflection:
    • What was the most enjoyable part of athletics for you? Why?
    • What are you really proud of? Why?
    • What was the most challenging part? Why?
    • Where to now? What are your goals for next time? Why do you want to focus on this?

Book Buddies

Description: For Term 4 we started a new book buddies slide. We chose a new book called Long Way Home. I have not started that book because I was so enthused in the twist of gold that I could not stop till I had finished the book. We picked the book Long Way Home based on the fact that it was a Micheal Morpurgo book. We were so excited that there were series of the books because we think that Micheal Morpurgo is a very great writer. Every week we record what we have read so when we come back to it we will remember. We had the choice to chose a new coach and a new buddie but Yassmine and I decided to stay the same.  Here is the slide that Yassmine and I made...

Evaluation: I think that I have done very well with this slide because I filled everything in and read the comments that Elly/Suzanne left but I think that if I ever get the chance to do this again I would do my best to keep it up to date.

Feedback/Feedforward: I think that you have done a great job but I think that you could stay up to date with your recording. - Charlotte W

Market Day Reflection

Description: For Market Day I was in the executive team. The executive team is a group that organises, runs and manages Market Day. I was partnered up with Zara for Advertising everyones product. Zara and I had some struggles getting the brochure finish in time for Market Day. I printed and made the map as a last minute thing because everything wasn't going to plan so we were running behind time. The total result of Market day was a success but it was a struggle for Zara and I to make the brochure and get everyones product advertised.

Advertising Article Writing

Description: For a few weeks now in Troys writing we have been working on advertising some headphones that we designed. We added some personal touches to the headphones like there are no cords and that they can zone out any noise and all the stuff that was put in the article. We had to make and design our own logo as a normal business would and then advertise what we were persuading people to buy.  I added as much information into to my article as possible. Take a look at my article I made...

Evaluation: I am very happy about the outcome from this piece of writing because I worked really hard and I added a lot of detail but next time I think that now I am familiar with the website logomakr I can could try to make a more advanced logo.

Feedback/Feedforward: I love your story and I don't know because you did fabulous and you have nothing to work on.

Risk Taking Action Plan

Description: In the last two weeks some kids have been working with Elly Troy and Nic and some teachers from Ashhurst school about what it takes to take a risk. This whole process is about putting your self in the pit and trying some thing new that is out of your comfort zone. we got given some stripes of  paper with a whole lot of risks on them and we had to rank them from the most riskiest to the lest. My most riskiest was to sing in front of an audience but my action plan was to have a partner and even on the way Bella, Zara and I had an idea to disguise our selfs so we wouldn't have to use our actually voices. Today all of the kids who got chosen to do JK were taking out side. We got given a script for what we are going to say and we also got given 3 action plan sheets and 3 sheets of risks. We had to take 3 or 4 kids and we talked to them about what they need to do when they take a risk. In my group I had Mayson, Jake and Max. I was their coach and I helped them through when they were ranking their risks and when they were filling in what resources and what things they think they will need to complete the task ect. After we had finished filling in the form my group had to email me a thank you letter. Here is the emails that Mayson, Jake and Max emailed me and a photo of my group and I working together...

Max Barry
Hi um thanks for helping me figure out what my risk because yea so thanks
I forgot to say what you could do next time
You should explain the task a bit better or something

Jake Crawford

Thank you for letting me find out the risky things and the least risky things because I wouldn't of done that because I never actually wanted to do that.

Next time you could explain the task better even though I knew what to do.

Thanks Jake 🙂🙃

Kapa Haka Portfolio Sample

Description: On Wednesday the Kapa Haka group was getting ready to perform at the regent. We transformed the song hall of fame into a song about our goal this year. In the chorus we have changed out hall of fame and put Panekirtanga in and ect. At school we took our Kapa Haka photo all together and then we performed once on the school stage before we performed in front of the school. I was not able to make it to the regent because I had something on but I know that our group was amazing. This performance was festival and that is when a groups from other schools come together and perform in front of the audience. I am most proud of my whole team and how far we have come with coming up with new songs and we made it to another performance. What challenged me the most would probably have to be learning the new songs at the start and also learning the new songs. Here is two videos of our performance( The one at school and at the regent)...

Evaluation: I think that I have done a really great job in Kapa Haka learning all the new songs but I think when I have learnt it it is sort of just like knowledge. I think that I need to work on my puo kana because I get a little embarrassed if people are watching who I know but on stage I am not that nervous because I just wan't to entertain them.

Feedback/Feedforward: I think that you really stand out when you perform and you always look like your having a great time but I think that you need to work on your puo kana as well.

Student Led Conference Tips

Description: For term 3 student led conference we have been given the privilege to do it at home during the holidays. We have been doing our posts and putting our links on to a doc so the teachers know that we have something to share at home. We still went through the process of seeing if it is up to standards and ect. The only thing that has changed about how we are going to do our conference is that one is a homely conference and the other is a studently conference and that is when the teachers can also have a little chat about how they think you are as a learner. Here were some tips that Nic gave us...
